  1. That's a nice subject you mentionned ! I think Tudor's not listening customers, they just reduce a size 'cause it will sell more to different people. And when it looks succesful, they pretend they have listened. As for the independents, the debate is vast. I think the middle ground is to impose a general design, come out with "designer" watches and let the client modify certain elements for customed one. It doesn't distort the artist's work and vision that way.
  2. This Oris is great, the new Doxa is cool too. The new Tudor is boring as hell but everybody's jer**** over it their video is so lame it looks like a parody. De Béthune, MB&F, Greubel, always amazing even if it's just variations of existing models. MB&F in this color is my favorite so far. The new Minase is interesting even if I'm not fond of purple.
  3. New updates : Looks incredible ! I can't wait to find out tomorrow.
  4. It will probably be an amazing watch, like everything they do. Looks like a sports watch, 100m a little short for a diver. I'm happy it's 45mm, I won't be tempted at all (even though I can't afford it ) !
  5. True. We can't ask people to moderate their words because it's the emotion speaking if it's their watch. But media or watch pro should be more professional on their review and the content should be more developped. Instead, mass watch medias or blogs don't do that kind of work. They almost never criticize brands/watches (brands that pay for the article, so no surprise here). This is where forum like this one offers space where pros and enthusiasts can exchange, share their knowledge and discuss topics with thorough analysis.
  6. S.U.F Helsinki is proud to announce its new ‘Flying Finn’: a thrilling collaboration with Formula 1 driving ace, Valtteri Bottas! The race-ready ’VB77’ wristwatch, named after Valtteri’s car number, shows what can happen when Finland’s premier watchmaker, Stepan Sarapenva (the ’S’ to UhrenFabrik’s ‘U.F’) teams up with Finland's latest generation of fearless racers – who, away from tearing up circuits at 200mph, happens to be a diehard watch enthusiast. For Valtteri, born 100km northeast of Helsinki, it was a no-brainer collaborating with one of watches’ smallest, but no less maverick, independent brands. S.U.F wears its Finnish heart on its sleeve, from the use of domestically forged, super-tough stainless steel, to 100% of R&D, engineering and assembly happening under Stepan’s own workshop roof, near Helsinki’s shipyards.VB77 follows in the footsteps of S.U.F’s original tribute to another ‘Flying Finn’ – motorcycling’s Jarno ‘Paroni’ Saarinen – and it has been designed closely with Valtteri. It has unique details that cannot be found in any other S.U.F model, such as its super-tough DLC-coated case, and its open-worked dial’s racy four-way colourscheme. There’s a new screwdown crown, too, keeping things at tight as Valtteri’s cornering skills. And in keeping with Valtteri’s wry sense of humour, you’ll find the 7th day of every month displayed as ’77’.Ticking beneath the bonnet – its ‘perlage’ finish gleaming between the dial’s racing stripes – you’ll find Soprod’s precision, Swiss-made ‘A10’ mechanics. On arrival at S.U.F, every movement is stripped down, thoroughly fine-tuned and re-oiled to Stepan’s stringent standards. This could just be the start of an amazing ride for S.U.F: on-board with a future F1 champion. Gentlemen, wind your engines!
  7. I think it matters when the movement decoration is the main asset of the watch and a great reason to buy it at a high price. I would not be happy if I bought a Kari, an Akrivia or something like that and see the finish isn't top notch. 'cause it's what I expect from them. Wanted that on a GS or a Laine is irrelevant. In that case, we expect great, not greatness. Well, it's how I see it.
  8. Yeah it's awesome. The champagne would suit my wrist really nicely
  9. Nice! Those index are great. It's a brand I don't know well. Aren't they the ones that partner with Garrick for an awesome model ? Mine :
  10. I'm not sensible to tourbillon, I'd prefer this watch with a plain dial (but that makes no sense I know it). The rose gold with this black is splendid and those hands are amongst my favourite in the entire watchmaking!
  11. Here is a nice article by Zach Kazan that hilight the magic and poetry of the Sarpaneva's Nocturne : https://wornandwound.com/why-i-love-it-stepan-sarpanevas-new-nocturne/
  12. I completely agree with your analysis. The independence from a large group and the handwork on some elements should allow on this forum watches that don't cost an arm and new small brands. The question that remains is : the handwork has to be done from inside the brand or can it be done by an outsourced artisan ? Depending on the question I ask above, I think some watches from Louis Erard could fit, the one designed by Alain Silberstein, their Guilloché main or Email grand feu.
  13. Wow, this is really well explained. Thanks for the link!
  14. I could say the brand should involve a lot of manufacture work and not being owned by a group. But that's just ignoring new brands and small budget watches. So, I'll just say, to me, an independent brand is simply defined by this : you contact the brand and the creator or a person close to him in his small staff respond
  15. Wiloides is a finnish strapmaker. He's super friendly and makes really good straps! You can DM him on Instagram. I got three from him based upon my requests :
