[News] Sarpaneva Stardust and Stardust Nostromo
Nakkdry replied to Nakkdry's topic in Sarpaneva's Forum
Hard to choose between the two, the perfect one for me would be the colored titanium one with the hour/minutes hands from the nostromo! -
Welcome to the Family The all-new Stardust and Stardust Nostromo. These two form a poignant milestone for Finland’s independent watchmaker: the path Sarpaneva has charted, and the voyage to come, beyond the Moon… to infinity! This pair of Sarpaneva watches marks this pursuit, into the unknown – what Finns call ‘sisu’ .One, the Sarpaneva Stardust gazes at the night sky with a hand-flamed titanium base dial glowing from beneath; shimmering with colours wrought from different torch temperatures, and echoing the deep-space constellations captured and rendered so vividly by Observatory telescopes. The other, the Sarpaneva Stardust ‘Nostromo’ is aimed squarely at Sarpaneva’s future – its next two decades’ trajectory – with a dazzling array of hand-applied Tritec luminescence, crafted in-house at Sarpaneva’s workshop. There’s a black polished rocketship small seconds hand at ’10 o’clock’; then its cross-hairs and surrounding numerals glowing in the LED orange of a cockpit display.Under the “ hood “ Chronode’s ultra-contemporary P.1003 calibre tick surely and steadily. First time switching from center to small seconds. Crucially allowing Stepan to create around the subdial’s spacious, acentric positioning. The Moon is certainly involved, in the bespoke winding rotor. The Sarpaneva ´new moon´ face of course included with a bit of lume!

The ARC II – DM is the first piece made in Denmark by Arcanaut. It has a super ergonomic silicone strap and a new dial made with their own material called D'Arc Matter. This dial is made by injecting Swedish slates into an old industrial coffee grinder and then pouring this crushing under high pressure in a vacuum chamber. The result is a stone-like surface with a dark matte finish that limits reflection on the dial and enhances the uniqueness of the ARC II. The lum is made of Badgerite, a material that James created in close collaboration with the manufactures of Super-LumiNova®. Specifications : • CASE: 41 mm (between lugs), 316L stainless steel • MOVEMENT: Swiss mechanical movement Soprod A10 • STRAP: Super ergonomic rubber strap. • DIAL : D'ARC MATTER, Composite material in slate stone. • LUME: Badgerite – based on Super-LumiNova® • CERTIFICATIONS: Made in Denmark. • LIMITED EDITION: Limited to 50 pieces (SOLD OUT) • SALE PRICE: Approximately $3245 ex. VAT. The case is a marvel. It is slightly domed, microblasted with a brushed bezel. The bead-blasting, observed closely, offers glittery reflections and the brushed bezel almost has the impression of being polished in contrast! The sides have the same treatment, with polished “chamfers”. The rectangular crown is a significant and modern feature. After some time settings, I can say that it's as easy to manipulate as a round crown. The hands have the same finish and it looks like the stem of the minute hand is invisible! The caseback is solid, with an engraving on a textured black plate. It reminds me of an element of a periodic table. You can see on my watch that some of the engravings shows copper color, as if the laser engraving had overheated. It was provided to me with almost the entire bracelets assortment. These bracelets marry the case perfectly and are super comfortable. Obviously, on my chicken wrist, they are a bit too long. The buckle is brushed, fairly generic and not branded, but it does its job! The bracelets are fixed with 4 screws. It is very portable given the absence of lugs and sits well on the wrist. I must admit that it is on the limit on my small wrist but it is mainly due to the particular rendering of this watch, breaking with the classic style of round lug cases. Conclusion this Arcanaut D'Arc Matter II is completly crazy ! The mission is successful for the creators. We really have a watch apart, which looks like nothing else and exudes serenity once worn thanks to its minimalist Scandinavian design. The crown is part of this design in addition to being a special element in the watchmaking world, the dial is handcrafted and also brings something beautiful and never seen before. It is not perfect of course, the back engraving has some flaws as explained above and I find the lum weak, which surprises me since I was expecting a little madness on that side. Anyway, I'm delighted to have been able to get it and I was spoiled with extras, as often with small brands that care about the customer.

I'm not a huge fan of hour window but I gotta admit this watch is super cool and this jumping hour is really well integrated. As you said, the collaboration is a win-win for the brands. -
That's impressive! Awesome piece of art dial.

QR and NFT stuffs aren't for me, but it's sure apart from traditional watchmaking! -
Lionel from Ultramarine launched his new model : the Beluga. 40mm*13,5mm, sapphire bezel and Kenissi movement. I think this watch has a place here because of the I.O.E.S. concept (intégralement ouvré en Suisse) : everything in this watch is made in Switzerland. I really like the the blue one, it's a nice diver (300m) at a fair price considering the finishing of each part (3250€ ex. tax) The Sea Sheperd LE collaboration (800€ is donated to the NGO) :

I liked the red one, this one too. I saw people were not really enthousiast when it was released, it was the opposite to me! It's a splendid sport/dress high end watch. The text on the back is the only thing I dislike. -
Yes it's stupid comments, brands are allowed to make cushion case, it's not a Panerai patent! This Fears doesn't look like a Panerai imho, I like it. A brand to follow for sure as they make really cool quality watches

The tonda seems to be in every categories I don't understand how a lady category still exist in 2022. Put diamonds and call it lady watch.. I Hate that. The Tonda is my favorite, the KC Harley looks like a deja-vu.

Let's talk about GPHG 2022. I don't always agree with categories or selections but this event makes it possible to discover little-known models, like this ArtyA depth gauge ! The colors of the dial disappears the more you dive, I think it's a great idea and an useful one. The "wave" bezel is also original and makes this watch apart from other diver.
