I had a chance to spend a couple hours with Albert and Peter from Zeitwinkel yesterday. Zeitwinkel was in the US to attend an event with several other brands and Collective Horology in Los Angeles.

I have had a chance to see the 126° collaboration with Cronotempvs and it is a beautiful watch. This time I was mostly excited to see the relatively new 188° MAKS.

No offense to Zeitwinkel's photography but my original impression of the watches was they were beautiful but slightly washed out. The first time I really thought the MAKS was something I'd be interested in was when I saw @watch_ape photos on Instagram.

Now seeing them in person, they are incredibly vibrant. The intricate Zeitwinkel pattern woven into the dial using laser engraving is incredibly impressive. It is so fine that it cannot be done by CNC or stamping. On top of that is 20 hand applied layers of lacquer. The effect is impressive as the dials absolutely flatten and sparkle in the light.
